RiseAfrica is committed to making our platform accessible to as many people as possible, including learners using assistive technology, keyboard navigation, or low-bandwidth connections across Africa.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we keep improving as the platform grows.
What we do
- Semantic, structured HTML with a single clear heading order on each page.
- Full keyboard navigation, with visible focus indicators on interactive elements.
- Sufficient colour contrast in our text and interface.
- Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images.
- Respect for the “reduce motion” setting, so animations are minimised for those who prefer it.
- Self-hosted fonts and optimised images so pages load quickly on modest devices and slower networks.
- Generous touch targets for comfortable use on phones.
Known limitations
Some content contributed by the community, such as uploaded images, embedded videos, or external links, may not yet fully meet our accessibility goals. We review and improve these as we find them, and we welcome reports.
