Offence, with permission

To defend well, it helps to understand how attackers think. Ethical hacking (penetration testing) means finding weaknesses the way an attacker would, but legally and with permission, so they can be fixed before a real attacker arrives.

The first rule is non-negotiable: only ever test systems you own or have explicit written permission to test. Unauthorised hacking is a crime, no matter the intent. That is why we practise in legal lab environments built for exactly this purpose.

What to explore, at a high level:

• Reconnaissance, scanning, and exploitation, and how defenders counter each
• Practising safely on intentionally vulnerable machines
• Always within the law and a clearly agreed scope
