What you'll learn

  • The foundations of cybersecurity: threats, vulnerabilities, and how attacks really work
  • Defensive skills for securing systems, spotting intrusions, and responding to incidents
  • Offensive basics covering ethical hacking and penetration testing in a safe, legal lab
  • Core tools of the trade: the command line, networking, and common security software
  • How to think like a defender and a professional, with guidance from working practitioners

Prerequisites

  • None. Beginners are welcome
  • Curiosity and a willingness to practice hands-on
  • A computer and an internet connection (the platform runs light on African networks)

Format

  • Online, 6 weeks, about 4 hours per week
  • A mix of guided lessons, hands-on labs, and weekly mentorship
  • Finish with a capstone project that shows what you can do
  • Free of charge, with a verifiable RiseAfrica certificate on completion
