SaloneLearn: Open STEM Dataset in Krio, Mende and Temne
Students across the North, South and East write STEM questions and answers in the languages they speak at home, and teachers verify every pair. The result is an open dataset of at least 500 question-and-answer pairs, free for anyone to build learning tools on. Delivered with Girls Connect Sierra Leone through the Salone Learn Pilot.

How it works
- Students write STEM questions and answers in Krio, Mende or Temne.
- Data collectors gather and record entries. Young women trained through our work with Girls Connect Sierra Leone collect and enter the questions and answers.
- Teachers verify every question-and-answer pair before it goes into the dataset.
- The dataset is published openly, free for anyone to build learning tools on.
