Your rules come first

Everything in this course is general good practice. But your university, your department, and even your individual supervisor may have their own rules about AI. Those rules always win.

Some allow AI for editing and brainstorming but not for drafting. Some require a disclosure form. Some ban certain tools. You need to know which apply to you.

Where to look:

• Your course or programme handbook
• Your university's academic integrity or assessment policy
• Your supervisor, directly. Asking is a sign of seriousness, not weakness.

When a rule is unclear, ask your supervisor in writing and keep their reply.

Practice

Find your university's policy on AI use in assessments. Read it. Write down in your notes what is allowed, what is not, and one thing you will ask your supervisor to confirm.
