Using AI for Your Dissertation, the Honest Way

Getting help with analysis

Working with your data

If your dissertation involves data, AI can help you understand analysis methods and even explain code or statistics in plain language. This is a strong, honest use, as long as the data and the conclusions are yours.

Useful and honest:

  • Asking what a statistical test does and when to use it
  • Asking it to explain an error in your analysis code
  • Asking what a result might mean, then checking it yourself

Not honest:

  • Inventing or changing data to get a better result
  • Reporting an analysis you did not actually run
  • Accepting an AI interpretation without checking it against your real data

If your course has a data or coding component, your RiseAfrica Python and Data Science courses pair well with this stage.

Practice

Write down one analysis step you find confusing. Ask AI to explain it in plain language. Then write the explanation in your own words, as you understand it.
