Planning and Structure · Lesson 18 of 33
A realistic timeline
Planning your time
The students who finish well are not the cleverest. They are the ones who planned their time and started early. A dissertation fails most often from running out of time, not from lack of ideas.
AI can help you turn a deadline into a week by week plan.
My dissertation is due on [date]. Today is [date]. I have [chapters or tasks left].
Suggest a realistic weekly plan, leaving two weeks at the end for editing and checks.
Be honest with it about your other commitments. Then adjust the plan to your real life, and protect that editing time at the end. Rushed final weeks are where mistakes and panic creep in.
Practice
Build your timeline now, working backwards from your deadline. Block out the last two weeks for editing only. Put the plan somewhere you will see it daily.
