Detection, and why you should not rely on beating it

Universities use detection tools to flag text that looks AI generated or copied. These tools are not perfect. They sometimes flag honest writing by mistake, and they sometimes miss AI text. That cuts both ways.

Two things matter for you:

• Do not try to outsmart detectors. Students who rewrite AI text just to dodge a checker are still cheating, and they often get caught in a viva or a follow up question they cannot answer.
• Protect yourself from false flags. Keep your drafts, your notes, and your version history. If you are ever questioned, being able to show how your work grew over time is your best defence.

The goal is not to be undetectable. The goal is to do work that is genuinely yours, so detection is not a worry at all.
